About SCHOPEG

Community television by and for Schoharie County and Duanesburg.

Your community’s channel

SCHOPEG Access, Inc. is the public, educational and government access station for 15 towns and villages in Schoharie County and the Duanesburg area. We run two Spectrum channels, stream both free online and keep past programs on demand, so anyone can see what’s happening close to home, and anyone can put something on the air.

The name says what we do: SCHOharie Public, Educational and Government access.

Public

Shows made by neighbors, nonprofits, churches and community groups. If it’s local and it matters to you, it belongs on the air.

Educational

High school sports, concerts, graduations and events from the schools in our towns.

Government

Town, village, school board and county meetings, start to finish, so you can see for yourself what your board decided.

Our mission

SCHOPEG gives the people of Schoharie County and Duanesburg a clear view of their local government, a stage for their schools and communities, and the training and equipment to tell their own stories.

No tax dollars

SCHOPEG is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that runs on about $80,000 a year and receives no tax money. Our support comes from:

  • A share of the cable franchise fees our member towns and villages receive from Spectrum
  • Equipment funds Charter committed in those franchise agreements
  • Grants, including from the Appalachian Regional Commission
  • Donations from viewers like you

Run by your neighbors

SCHOPEG is overseen by a board of directors from the communities we serve and kept on the air by a small staff and the volunteers who tape meetings, run cameras and produce shows.

Your channel needs you

You don’t need experience to make a show. We’ll train you and lend you the equipment. Already made something? Send it our way.
